Chief Executive, Soil Association and Chair, Food Ethics Council
Helen Browning runs a tenanted 1,350 acre organic livestock and arable farm in Wiltshire, UK. The business has diversified, and now takes on the running of the village pub, while continuing to supply retailers with organic meat.
Helen became Chief Executive of the Soil Association in March 2012 and also serves as Chair of the Food Ethics Council. She has also been a member of several important commissions concerning British agriculture and food, including the Curry Commission on the Future of Farming and Food, the Agriculture and Environment Biotechnology Commission, and the Meat and Livestock Commission.
She was honoured by the Queen of England in 1998, when she was awarded an OBE for her services to organic farming.
