Director General of the Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI)
zoomMarco MensinkAn expert on emissions trading, renewables and energy legislation, Marco Mensink joined CEPI in March 2006 as Energy and Environment Director, becoming Director General on 1 June 2014 after serving as deputy for four years.
He has an extensive network of EU contacts, in the Commission, Parliament and Member States, as well as business and civil society, and has specialised in the European pulp and paper industry.
Mr Mensink, a Brussels-based Dutch citizen with three children, holds a master’s degree in forestry and business management from Wageningen University in the Netherlands.
Starting his career at Ernst & Young he worked for six years in environmental management and due diligence, then for a further six at the Royal Netherlands Paper and Board Association, also representing Dutch producers in Brussels.
He played a key role in establishing the CEPI’s Two Teams Project, which resulted in breakthrough technologies for the industry, and was the author of its “2050 Roadmap to a low-carbon bio-economy”, also helping to implement the plan.
He established several important public-private partnerships in pulp and paper.
