We invite all local and international journalists to join some of the world’s biggest names in environmental issues at the Forest Stewardship Council’s global General Assembly.

The Events

The following events are open to journalists:

FSC+20 Forum

Panel discussions tackling issues related to tropical deforestation, security of supply and financing. Featuring heads of global NGOs (including Greenpeace and WWF) and CEOs of multinational companies (including IKEA and Tetra Pak). More information here

Dozens of Open Side Meetings

Dozens of open meetings between major players debating issues related to forest certification, including rights of indigenous peoples; creating a market for certified products; high conservation values; and genetically modified trees. More information here

A cocktail reception

A cocktail reception celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Forest Stewardship Council.

Highlights include:

  • Speech by Kumi Naidoo, Executive Director, Greenpeace
  • Launch of a new corporate initiative to measure the impact of forest certification

A gala dinner, officially opening the event.

Note, the Members’ Assembly, taking place on 11 and 12 September, is closed to media.

Simultaneous Interpretation

All sessions of the FSC+20 Forum will be simultaneously interpreted from English to Spanish, and vice-versa.

Most open meetings will have simultaneous translation from English to Spanish, and vice-versa; and some from French to English, and vice-versa.
